About ICEROK Jewellery
The concept of IceRok Jewelry originated in the summer of 2006. After several months of traveling
around the world and experiencing a variety of cultures, three friends, Michael Wainstock, Russell
Gozlan, and Michael Kimel, identified the need for a company focused on stylish and progressive jewelry.
Based in Toronto, Canada, IceRok aims to create unique products with a slick
aesthetic and an accessible, customer-oriented approach. IceRok jewelry is available at select boutiques around the world.
How is IceRok Jewellery Made
The process begins with an idea. That particular symbol or design is then discussed at length with inhouse
experts in the model making department. An individual model maker painstakingly renders in
sterling silver an exact replica of the iconic image. This process is done entirely by hand.
Once the hand crafted model is complete, a rubber mold of the image is born. This rubber mold enables IceRok
to duplicate the product once a customer order is received. The rubber mold is then injected with liquid blue wax that hardens when it cools. At that point, the
hardened wax image is placed in a metal cylinder, surrounded by liquid plaster. Following a short
cooling cycle, the hardened plaster cylinder is then “baked” in an oven overnight. During this process,
the wax evaporates and leaves a hardened empty plaster cavity of the images being produced. IceRok's
state of the art technology then allows a direct injection of liquid silver or liquid gold (depending on the
order) into this plaster cavity. Within hours, a solid gold or silver piece of jewelry appears in its
rough form to be processed, finished, polished and ready to be shipped.
If the order includes any diamonds, the same process takes place, however, an extra step is added,
allowing the direct injection of liquid silver/gold to be surrounded by suspended diamonds, which are
placed individually by hand during the wax process. These suspended diamonds actually adhere to the
liquid gold/silver, and as the metal hardens the diamonds are attached inextricably to the gold/silver
icon.
The finishing process involves the cleaning of the product, where each individual piece is hand crafted
by experienced jewelers. After this stage, the item is forwarded to our polishing department, where it is
again polished by experienced craftsmen who make the final touches on this unique IceRok piece.
About the Raw Materials Used
It is important to note that IceRok uses only the purest of metals. When it comes to gold, IceRok uses pure .9999 24k gold bars and mix those bars with
various alloys to make the desired gold content of either 10k or 14k gold. As for the diamonds, IceRok endeavors to buy diamonds in bulk from all over the world,
enabling them to give the consumer a good look at a reasonable price. The diamonds themselves are all hand cut and hand
polished individually, which explains why IceRok Jewellery is known for being mostly handcrafted. Each diamond sparkles and shines,
giving the wearer years of pride and enjoyment.
The Care of IceRok Jewellery
If you search the marketplace, there are a number of commercial products available to clean jewelry,
however most often water and a mild detergent is sufficient to restore the radiance, and a soft bristle
brush helps to gently clean intricate filigree designs and stones. As well, it can be helpful to soak the
jewelry in a solution of one part ammonia and six parts water for up to a minute.
It is important to note, that the jewelry should be dried and polished with a chamois or soft cloth after cleaning.
Jewelry polishing cloths are widely available and are an effective method of keeping your silver, gold
and diamonds glittering and radiant. These essential cotton cloths help to remove tarnish and to buff
jewelry to look as good as it did the day you bought it. Please be sure to store your jewelry in a safe
place where pieces will not bump into each other avoiding unnecessary scratches.
